A Taste of Terroir

The Koup Karoo offers one of South Africa's most authentic culinary gifts: Karoo lamb. This is not simply a product of a specific breed, like the hardy Dorper sheep, but a direct expression of the terroir. As the sheep graze on the aromatic bossies, the essential oils infuse the meat, giving it a distinctive, herbaceous flavour that is sought after by chefs and gourmands nationwide.

The region's culinary customs are built on this principle of place. Sun-dried fruits, savoury biltong and droëwors (dried sausage), wholesome farm breads, and preserves made from quince and figs all speak of a culture of self-sufficiency and a deep connection between the kitchen and the veld. To share a meal here is to partake in the nurture of nature, to taste the sun, the soil, and the rain.

Our farm market offers a wide variety of fresh and delicious products, including seasonal produce, grass-fed beef, free-range chicken and eggs, and handmade baked goods. We also offer a selection of local artisanal products, such as honey, jams, and cheeses. Our market is open year-round, and we offer special events and seasonal activities for the whole family.
